FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tampa, Fla. – May 15, 2012 – Faircount Media Group is proud to announce the release of a special magazine dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The release of the publication in both print and digital edition has been timed to coincide with ceremonies commemorating the 150th anniversary of the USDA.

The People’s Department: 150th Anniversary of the United States Department of Agriculture celebrates the establishment of the USDA in 1862 by President Abraham Lincoln, which forever changed the character of the nation. It quite literally opened up the West and promoted and supported unprecedented growth in U.S. farming, agricultural technology, and techniques.

The publication looks at the history of the USDA, as well as how it continues to do many of the things it was originally established to do, including “provide leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, and related issues based on sound public policy, the best available science, and efficient management.” Today, the department continues to evolve and in doing so, provides agile services to expand and develop alternative markets for agricultural products and activities, enhances and protects our food supply, delivers nutrition education and food assistance, and protects and manages America’s public and private lands.

The People’s Department has been extensively distributed to USDA leadership and personnel, agricultural and scientific institutions, industry, and other non-governmental organizations.
