“Green” Hotels are becoming commonplace throughout the United States with more and more hotels converting to environmentally friendly policies. Property managers are instituting programs that save water, save energy, and reduce solid waste, while saving money to help reduce the hospitality industry’s environmental impact. Despite the many thousands of hotels converting, there are thousands more that need introducing to the benefits of going “green.” This is where the “Green” Hotels Association (GHA) comes in.
Mission
Faircount partnered with the GHA to expand the message of environmental benefits within the hospitality industry by launching the GHA magazine IMPACT. Founded in 1993, the GHA’s mission is to bring together hotels that are determined to combat these critical environmental issues head on. GHA has been taking action, instituting initiatives that educate and involve both guests and owners. Initiatives ranging from offering towel hangers and sheet-changing cards, which ask guests to consider linen usage, to the development of a Catalog of Environmental Products for the industry staff. The next stage was how to widen that message.
Therefore in partnership with Faircount, IMPACT was launched and distributed to owners, general managers, chief engineers, and executive housekeepers within the hospitality industry across the nation, spreading the environmental message to the hospitality industry.
