Founded in 1954 the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is the world’s largest association devoted to Sports-Medicine and Exercise Science. ACSM promotes and integrates scientific research, education, and practical applications of sports medicine and exercise science to maintain and enhance physical performance, fitness, health, and quality of life. ACSM works with some of the world’s leading sports organizations such as the NFL, NBA and the PGA TOUR. Working in a wide range of medical specialties, allied health professions, and scientific disciplines, ACSM members are committed to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of sports related injuries and the advancement of the science of exercise. The diversity and expertise of its members makes the ACSM the largest, most respected sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. From astronauts and athletes to people with chronic diseases or physical challenges, ACSM continues to look for and find better methods to allow individuals to live longer and more productive lives.
50 Years and Beyond!
2004 was a significant milestone for the ACSM as it celebrated its 50th anniversary. To mark the the occasion, June 2004 saw the largest gathering in the world of experts in the sports medicine and fitness industries, coming together to celebrate this significant date. Thousands of doctors, physiotherapists and fitness experts came together in Indianapolis, Indiana to discuss the newest innovations, developments and the latest product trends.
Faircount’s Mission
Faircount was appointed by the ACSM to publishe the official anniversary publication “Advances in Sports Medicine: 50 Years of ACSM”. The special commemorative publication acted not only as the anniversary publication but also as the official conference program. Editorial covered vital programs in many of the key areas such as injury prevention, exercise nutrition, obesity, eating & drinking habits and much more.
Distribution
ACSM distributed the publication to conference attendees, nutrition professionals, physicians, physiotherapists, hospital-based wellness directors, team doctors within the major sporting arenas (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL PGA etc.), health and fitness directors, senior personal trainers of major health club chains and professional dieticians.
