U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: Building Strong®, Serving the Nation and the Armed Forces 2020-2021 Edition

In this edition of Building Strong®, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic dominates. As part of its response, the Corps of Engineers built temporary medical facilities, or adapted existing buildings for medical uses, across the United States as well as overseas. These efforts were in addition to the Corps’ emergency response mission in a particularly deadly and damaging hurricane season as well as an unprecedented fire season. Meanwhile, the Corps continued to work on major construction projects at home and overseas in support of the U.S. military and the nation’s partners, maintained and improved vital infrastructure in the U.S. such as locks and dams, and undertook a number of projects aimed at safeguarding and improving the nation’s water resources.
