To mark the 50th anniversary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, a special publication has been released for comprehensive circulation throughout the operating administrations and bureaus of the DOT, state-level transportation departments, and various industries associated with the nation’s transportation system. Produced in conjunction with former DOT leaders, agency heads, industry writers and experts, 50 Years of Moving America Forward provides a detailed history of the Department, its people, and contributions to America’s economy, infrastructure and society.

The publication includes interviews with current and former DOT officials and current leaders from transportation, education, and government, case studies, and expert editorial that examines the current status of the transportation sector, with insight into DOT efforts to enhance and help shape America’s economy. We look at budget priorities and how the department plans to effectively manage the nation’s resources to best take on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
